Warrior Leadership
"...not leaders who know more; leaders who are more..."

Warrior Leadership is an appraoch to leadership as it pertains to everyday living. A definition of leadership which we got from Lance Giroux, Founder and Managing Director of Allied Ronin Leadership Training and Consulting in the US is:
Leader
- Anyone who influences others to take effective action
Other functions which a leader may fulfill are:
Manager
- Responsible for process
- Establishes and attains objectives
- Optimizes use of time, money, material, energy, and human resource
- Plans-organises-directs-coordinates-controls
Boss (Commander)
- Position of legal authority
- Formal head of a unit
- Appointed through a system
Lance studied at the US military academy West Point and this is the definition of leadership they use there. As you can see it is a very broad description, afterall, we are all influencing people all the time. Manager and Boss are doing functions - they require you do do a specific set of things to fulfill. Leadership however, is a being function: you are a leader, not based on specific actions but based on the quality of your presence and being.
It is this level - the level of being - that we at Fudoshin Development want to work with people to enable them to be the most effective leaders that they can be in the whole of their lives. Leadership is a vital quality to develop for anyone who wants to be active in the creation of their future - personal, familial, social, organisational, societal, political and global. If you are a parent you are a leader, if you are a friend you are a leader, if you are a child you are a leader. Think about it: when a baby cries, and the mother picks the baby up, who is the leader? The baby has influenced the mother to take effective action. Leadership is a basic life skill and yet, unless we are in a managerial or 'boss' function in our work, most of us will not have any leadership training. We at Fudoshin Development want to change that. In terms of organisational leadership, this is not about developing leaders who know more, this is about developing leaders who are more.
Warrior Leadership is the model developed by Francis Briers as a complete philosophy and set of practices to develop leadership capacity. The basic Warrior Leadership model (The Warrior's Triad) is below with the philosophical principles around the outside and the practices in the triangle.
