Rev. Francis Briers - Founder & Director Fudoshin Development

Francis has been a workshop leader for 10 years in a variety of settings from public workshops to corporate and organisational training, to education.  He loves finding ways to support people to be more of who they really are, to find that constant heart of their being and to nurture it and challenge it to grow and blossom.  He is a published author with several more books in the pipeline.

Francis is a presence expert.  He has spent the last 19 years studying in a range of disciplines where presence – the embodied experience of the world as it is – is key to effectiveness and success.  While Presence is not something which can be forced to occur, it is possible to create the circumstances in our bodies which make a present orientation more likely.  From his background in personal development, performing arts, bodywork and martial arts Francis has developed a unique approach to training people to embody these conditions.  The results include improved personal impact, reduced stress, and heightened awareness and self awareness.  Francis has now begun to train other professionals in this approach he calls ‘Somatic Presence’.

He has a range of organisational experience including front-line management, Learning and Development, and designing and delivering coaching programs.  He has studied various aspects of organisational life including leadership and managment, conflict resolution, coaching and mentoring, stress management and resilience, and communication.  He has certification in Appreciative Inquiry and in 2009 he became the first person in the UK to be certified to facilitate the Samurai Game which is a team and leadership simulation which was created by George Leonard, writer, teacher and one of the founders of Esalen institute.

Francis is a graduate of one of the UK’s top drama schools and holds a 3rd Dan black belt in Karate.  As a martial artist he has a focus in his practice and teaching on dynamic meditation and how structural integrity builds moral integrity.  Over the years he has studied many different philosophical and spiritual paths including various cultural approaches to shamanic initiation and healing, a range of martial arts, chi gung, movement and dance, and different approaches to meditation.  Francis is an ordained Interfaith Minister (RIMA - on the public register of the Interfaith Ministers Association) and is passionate about spiritual development, and offering a space for people to explore their own sense of meaning in their lives.
